Chinese cooking mode

I really miss my mom's dishes, i miss the smell of sesame seeds, oyster sauces and the taste of half cooked veggies. That's why i am on a Chinese cooking mode today. I wanna try a different dishes that i haven't tasted yet. I wanna try a Chinese dish that my daughter will like as well. Here we go.

Braised Oriental Chicken

Serve:  2-3 person
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 40 Minutes

What you need:

3 Tablespoon of vegetable oil
1 kilo of chicken pieces

1 cup of water
2 1/2 tablespoon soy sauce
1 1/2 tablespoon of sugar
1/2 tablespoon of cooking wine
1 piece of star anise
2 tablespoons green onions, cut into 1 inch pieces
1 bay leaf
1/2 tablespoon cornstarch, dissolved in 1 tablespoon of water
black pepper to taste
8 leaves bok choy thailand
1/4 cup leeks, green part sliced diagonally

  • Heat oil and fry chicken until golden brown and set aside
  • In a stock pot, combine all of the ingridients for the sauce except for the bok choy, cornstarch pepper and leeks. Bring to boil then add the chicken and cook, covered on a medium heat for 30 min until chicken is tender.
  • Transfer the chicken on the serving dish, add dissolved cornstarch to the sauce and let it thicken, season with pepper, add bok choy and leek. Mix well. Pour sauce over chicken and served it hot.
Hope you like it...
Have a yummy lunch..
