Spicy Squid with java rice



Let me share to you one of my easiest recipe ever. This one is good for breakfast or dinner. He we go and i hope you will like it.

Let me start with Java Rice:

Serve: 2-3 person
Prep Time: 5 mins
Cook Time: 15 mins

What you need:

  • 5 cups of cooked rice
  • Medium Red bell pepper chopped
  • 1 teaspoon of turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon of parsley
  • Small onion and garlic chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • teaspoon of oliver oil

Directions:
  • In a preheated pan, add oil and saute onion and garlic.
  • Add cooked rice and cooked it again for like 2 mins.
  • Add turmeric and saute it until all rice turned into yellow
  • Add parsley, bell peper and let it cooked for 1min then set aside.

For the spicy squid:

What you need:
  • 1/4 of squid
  • Chilli flakes
  • salt and pepper
  • Butter and oil

Directions:
  • Marinate squid with salt, pepper and chili flakes for 3min and leave it in you refrigerator.
  • After 3 min. In a preheated pan add small amount of butter and oil.
  • Add squid and saute it until cooked, and enjoy eating it with your java rice.
So there you go guys, another creation made by me, and i hope you've enjoy eat.

Food trip: Yakimix Experience

Last week me and my colleague decided to have a break at Yakimix Podium. It was a not so special Tuesday for us because we only have 1 day off and we make sure that we will consume our 1 days off to have fun and relax. After buying some gift for our x'mas exchange gift, we ate at Yakimix and go to Platinum KTV bar in metrowalk, and thanks to JR tonie's hubby for treating us for videoke.

Yakimix is a EAT-ALL-YOU-CAN Korean, Japanese and Cantonese buffet, a sushi, smokeless grill restaurant. I love sushi and thanks to my dad who introduce me to sushi and Japanese food. And to my mom who introduce me to Chinese food because without those experience, i will not appreciate this food.

At longt last, Happy Lemon is at SM Megamall. NO need for me to go to Greenhills just to try it. And yes, i can already say two thumbs up for their milk tea. 

Before, i  see bloggers posting something about Happy lemon drinks, twitting on how good their drinks are. And i am one of them now, who can prove that their tea is really really good.



Happy lemon at SM Megamall today is just their dry run, their shop is not yet fully fix. We were suppose to go to Starbucks today buy i decide to go here instead just to taste it before going home.

I ordered Cocoa Milk tea with brown sugar for 95.00php, at first i was thinking of ordering their lemon drink ( sorry i forgot the name ) but i said to my self to try the milk tea first before trying something else.


And for those people who are just near SM Megamall, try this one out it is really good. Their prices range from 95 to 100++ i think. Sorry if i cannot provide the complete price and drink flavor details since i was on a hurry to go home.

But if you really wanna try this one out. You can go to any Happy lemon store near you place. I think they have one in Eastwood and Greenhills.

Jannah's Pili tart

I just wanna share to you this yummy pili tart. I love tart and i love Pili nuts and this is the first time i taste a good and not so hard to eat pili tart. And thanks Jacq for promoting this product to us.

PILI NUTS came feom a Pili trees are attractive symmetrically shaped evergreens, averaging 20 m tall with resinous wood and resistance to strong wind. C. ovatum is dioecious, with flowers borne on cymose inflorescence at the leaf axils of young shoots. - as per wikipedia

Sorry for that, i just need to copy the meaning in wiki.
Last weekends we got this yummy pili tart from Jacq and this one was made by her friend as well. Pli tart is one of the famous pasalubong / delicacies here in the Philippines and there's allot of sweets that can be made with Pili nuts.


What i like about Jannah's pili tart, it has a thin crust and its is so crunchy and it is not hard to eat. The tart has full of creamy, sweet filling inside and the Pili nuts really blends well with its cream. 

I really recommend their tart, and you can also give this on these coming holiday season. This only cost us 250php for the whole pack and the whole has 50pcs of Pili tart. I might buy again and probably give it this as a gift for Christmas. So how about you guys, what is your favorite Filipino sweets?

Food Trip : Gongcha Milk Tea

I know most of you already tried Gongcha tea and i know most of you are going gaga with this, that's why i tried it myself to see why most of you really loves Gongcha tea.

I really don't know where Gongcha's store is located, good things there's one in SM Megamall Altrium. While da is busy looking at the big Christmas design of SM Megamall, i sneak and decide to grab the opportunity to taste Gongcha's tea.

There's allot of tea flavor to choose for and it took me like 5mins to decide what to buy, because i wanna make sure that the drink that i'll be choosing will not waste my money.

Food Trip : Mang Inasal

I confess i am one of those Mang Inasal lover, the reason why for that is because it is very near in our place in Pasig, if i'm lazy to cook food, we just have go to Mang Inasal to eat and enjoy the grilled chicken and the unlimited rice. 


Mang Inasal is one of the affordable local restaurant that i've been too. There store ambiance is so Pinoy and they even have Sorbetes in their store. As you can see their rice is wrapped with Banana leaf to make it look like so Pinoy and for it to smell good when they serve it. Their chicken i well grilled and i like their chicken, because on how they marinate it, it is so Pinoy.

 They also serve the traditional condiments that we use to dip the chicken before we eat it. But swear to God i haven't taste the chicken sauce, the one in the middle, it is so oily and i can see a whapping cholesterol on it. ( Mahal ko pa buhay ko Lord!!! Matakaw lng ako.) So, for those people who havent taste Mang Inasal chicken yet, just look around your place, swear you will see one. 

Food Review: Manang's Potato Chips

Let me share to you the new Manang's Potato chips. Manang's Potato chip's is made in real potato, it was cut in thin slices and deep fried. The taste is good and its so crunchy when they serve it and dip it on there Garlic Mayo.


Bought this one at Manang's SM Megamall branch for 54php i think?. So for those who haven't tasted this yet, just grab one now.

Tea time at Chatime

Hello pips! Sorry for being so lazy posting again. Been busy with my work and been lazy taking pictures. But i already have a list of things to post for me to share it to you. But for the mean time let me just share to you my experience with Chatime while chillin.

Based on my knowledge CHA was derived in a word CHA (eat in chinese) and they attached it with the word TIME, chatime ( eating time? ) or CHATIME ( chaa in tagalog--(tea) time ) hihihi... i don't know. But for me that's the meaning when i first saw this store.

Food Trip : Manang's Chicken

Manang's Chicken was first introduce to me by Che my friend in Meracato ( food market) at The Fort Taguig City. At first i thought that ti was just an ordinary crispy chicken, but i was wrong when i tasted it and that's why me and my partner search for the nearest store of Manang's right away, because we are craving for more. So we search the internet and look for there website or Facebook page and we found out that they have a nearest store in our place. So we visit there branch in AIC tower near Robinsons Galleria. Good thing it's Saturday morning and no long queue. So let me tell you why Manang's Chicken is the our mouth watering food for this month.

Food Review: Pichi pichi with cheese


Pichi pichi is one of Filipinos delicacies here in manila. This is compose of grated cassava, sugar and lye water. Pichi pichi texture is really soft,sticky and gelatinous.They just mix the ingredients and steam it. Most pichi pichi are coated with grated coconut and some times they add flavors on it, like pandan, pinipig etc. But now some one invented pichi pichi coated with cheese, i don't now who, but i like it.

Good thing my friend che brought us a special pichi - pichi made by Arny and Dadings store and they name Pichi - pichi as peachey - peachey a possible name of there mom or their daughter.

Recipe: Picadillo ( ground meat with potato, peas and tomato sauce)

Picadillo (giniling or ground meet) is one of the easiest recipe that you can cook with tomato sauce. Some uses achuete (Bixa orellanato put some color on this dish.  But i rarely use achuete because it cannot give good taste on your food. Actually no one taught me to do this, i just remember how it taste and how it look like and cooking it for the first time bothers me a bit.


Serve: 2-3 person
Prep Time: 10 mins
Cook Time: 20mins

What you need:

  • 1/2 ground meat ( pork or beef)
  • Medium Potato cut into cubes
  • Half cup of Green Peas ( frozen)
  • Medium Red Bell pepper cut into small squares
  • Medium onion and garlic chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 200ml of tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup of water
Directions:
  • In a preheated pan, add oil and saute potato for 2min then set aside
  • Add and saute ground meat, sprinkle with salt and pepper until golden brown
  • Set aside meat on the side of the pan and saute garlic and onion for 1 min, then saute ground meat again together with the garlic and onion.
  • Add potato and green peas and stir it for 2min.
  • Pour in water and let it boil for 3mins
  • Add tomato sauce, red bell pepper and let it simmer until the sauce thicken and ready to serve with rice once your done.

Junior Master Chef Philippines

Junior master chef Philippines will start on August 27, 2011 at ABS-CBN network. I am a fan of Master Chef Australia and US, and i can't wait to watch how these Filipino Kids show there stuffs in cooking. I am a super frustrated cook as in professional cook and i'm kinda jealous with these kids. On there young age, they can figure out what's a good food and not. Now i am very eager to cook again, no fried dishes tomorrow, will cook a perfect dishes for my Family. Can't wait to watch the show and i think that the parents of these kids are truly supportive to their children passion. Two thumbs up for the parent of this kids, you deserve having kids like these.

Smoked and dried fish with tomato ( Tinapa at daing with kamatis)

I am not here to show you how to make smoke and dried fish, but i am here to show one of Filipinos local dishes. Smoked fish and dried fish or tinapa and daing, there are the typical food for breakfast here in the Philippines. Smoke and dried fish has various of fish type. For smoke fish it has; galunggong ( mackarel scad ), bangus ( milk fish), Salinas & etc. For dried fish, it has allot and it's hard to tell. You can buy smoke and dried fish on local market, they sell it in packs or per gram. Let me show you our yummy break fast yesterday.


 That's the smoked and dried fish we ate yesterday. I took this picture while eating. Hehehe and for you to enjoy your meal, you should match it with this...

Chopped tomato with salt. Sawsawan or dip can be matched depending of the type of fish you are eating. Dips that we use for smoked and fried fish are; bagoong isda with vinegar ( shrimp paste with vinegar ), toyomansi or soysauce with calamansi and atchara  a filipino condiment. This dishes is good with hot fried garlic rice. :D I know most of us miss this especially those Filipino abroad. For those people who haven't tried this, ask your Filipino friends to bring you pasalubong like this before they come back from the Philippines so that you can try it. But better to have dried fish on the plane because it can't be spoiled easily. That's all guy. Have a yummy breakfast.

Ginisang Gulay ( Saute Vegetable)

One of the healthiest and easiest variant to cook here in the Philippines is the saute vegetables. Saute vegetables can be mix with pork, beef, chicken and fish. The reason why i write this because it reminds me something on Ramadan, though i'm not a Muslim and it's a Ramadan month, it's just reminds me my old house mate anwar. He is  a pure Muslim and pork is a big NO NO on there religion, that's why we always cook vegetables, fish and beef. And the plain saute vegetables is one of our favorite, at least all of us can eat, share and match it with fried fish. Since we are no longer living on their apartment and we already have our own, we can now cook saute vegetable mix it with pork. You can choose Pechay ( chinese cabbage), Repolyo (Cabbage) Sayote ( Chayote )and mix it with ground pork, beef or small cut of pork or you can even use red sardines, and this is so Pinoy.


What you need: Cabbage chopped 2inch size, 1/4 pork, garlic, onion, salt, pepper and broth cube.


Directions: Medium pan, add oil, garlic and onion saute, then add pork until golden brown, then add cabbage, and saute until it's medium cook, add pepper and broth cube.  Add half cup of water and this is optional.

This food is always on my list weekly, because it's easy and budget friendly.

I am a first time baker. Recipe: Banana chocolate chips bread

I am a first time baker and i definitely choose the easy one recipe i could find. It's easy to make this but i really mess up with the outcome, the taste is good no questions ask. But as you can see i mess up with the bread. I forgot to cool it down before removing it from the pan. super silly me. Huhuhu. But i learn my lesson and i am just a newbie. Let give you the easy recipe of my Banana-chocolate chip bread and thanks to yummy magazine for this.

Pork Hamonado for 2

Since we're just 2 here at home and we're getting bored with the same old same old fried food. I decided to make a pork hamonado ( pork sweetened in pineapple juice) for 2. This recipe is good for those  newly wed or those people who are not eating that much but wants to cook great food. Here we go.



Serve:  2-3 person
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 30 Minutes



What you need:
1/2 kilo of pork loin or adobo cut
1 small can of pineapple juice
1 small pouch of delmonte pineapple tidbits 
1 1/2 tbsp of brown sugar
1 1/2 tbsp of soy sauce
1 1/2 tbsp of oil
salt and pepper to taste

Direction:
  • In a bowl add pine apple juice, brown sugar and pork and marinade for 3 hours.
  • After 3 hours, preheat pan, add oil and fry pork for 5 min until it turns to golden brown. Please set aside the marinated sauce.
  • After you fry the pork add marinated sauce and pineapple tidbits and let it simmer for 15 min and ready to serve with hot rice.
There you got, how i wish this laziness will go away, i want to cook more recipe for you guys. Will post a recipe for baking here soon, so do watch out. That's all guys for now. I hope you like it.

Pigging out at DAD's

We had a tummy-full weekend with my partner & her brother. Pigging out at DAD's 3rd floor at SM megamall is a very fun day and my eyes cannot figure out which one to pick. This eat all you can restaurant has 200 dishes to choose. From Philippine, American to Japanese dishes. If you want a crossover it may cost you Php600+ and if you want just Kamayan or Saisaki only this will cost you Php300+ and this is with out tax. Here are the food  that graves me....

Lamb meat, Maki, Spicy Squid, Spicy Seafood, Paella and back back rib
California Maki, Tempura, Fish Fillet and Another type of Maxi ( don't know the name)
Leche Flan, Cream Puff, Kiwi Tart and etc.
I'm so sorry if i cannot tell the real name of some food here, due to excitement and craving i forgot what it was named.  That's all guys. I hope i you like it. eiii.....

Ready to cook fudge mode


Having a stressful week makes me feel so lazy. Don't have time to cook amazing food. I just wanna seat down and eat. That's why i grade the Fudge Brownie mix and cooked it , well this is the first time we made an instant fudge brownie and i was amaze bec its good. We finish it for just a day while watching TV. A super lazy day for me. Here's the yummy look of our ready to cook fudge.

Pinoy style Lasagna

Last Sunday i made a pinoy style lasagna for my partner's birthday. Though this is not our first plan. We are planning just to cook spaghetti, shanghai, chicken and just stay at home, but i was thinking since we are just staying at home to celebrate her birthday, why instead of me cooking spaghetti, let me just cook lasagna for a change, since spaghetti is an ordinary dishes for birthdays.


Serve:  2-4 person
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 40 Minutes



What you need:
8pcs of lasagna pasta
3/4 kilo of ground beef
8pcs of hot dog, sliced diagonally
1 can of sliced mushroon
3 packs (180g) of tomato sauce
1 stack of celery minced
1 medium carrot minced
Slat and pepper to taste
Garlic and onion - chopped

White Sauce:
1/2 cup of butter
4cups of evaporated milk
3 tbsp of flour
180g of cheddar cheese - gratted

Toppings:
180g of cheddar cheese
Direction:
  • Cook lasagna pasta ( see direction on the box) set aside
  • On a medium heat pan add oil, saute garlic, onion and beef until fully cooked
  • Add all of the vegetables and saute for 5mins.
  • Add tomato sauce and salt and pepper and let it simmer for 3mins and set aside. ( you can add sugar as well depend on you)
  • On a medium heat non stick pan, add butter and let it melt a little, then add the flour and mix it, pour milk and the grated cheese. mix it well all together until everything mix up and cheese melted then set aside
  • On a baking pan spread a little butter on it then put the first layer of pasta, meat sauce, white sauce then pasta layer again until you come up to 4 layers and on top add grated cheese.
  • Put you lasagna and and let it cook for 350'F degrees for 30 - 40 mins and once done let it cool for 5mins and ready to serve.

My version of Bicol Express

I love eating bicol express because of i'ts milky and spicy taste. I thought it was a fail but it's not. Here is my own version of Bicol express.


Serve:  2-3 person
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 15 Minutes


What you need:


1/2 kilo pork sliced horizontally
1 cup pure coconut milk
5 pcs of siling pansigang (  New Mexico cayenne pepper)
2 tbsp of  Bagoong Alamang ( Shrimp paste )
1 tbsp of Chop garlic and onion



Direction:
  • In a medium heat pan with oil, saute pork with garlic and onion
  • Once pork is kinda golden brown, add the shrimp paste&  saute for a minute.
  • Then pour coconut oil and let it shimmer for 5 min and put the stove on a low heat.
  • Lastly add cayenne pepper and let it shimmer again until the coconut oil appears.
There you go , hope you like it guys especially those people who love spicy food.

Craving for pasta and nachos


It's a great news to hear that banchetto is back on business and now i am planning on visiting them by next week with my partner and will definitely going to look for my favorite food store. I haven't got there name but what i know is that they are the only store who sells this type of food for Php.100.

Banchetto is back!!!!

Yes, banchetto is back in business and it's still in Ortigas. But it's far from the business center :( .They are now located in MEGATENT besides Renaissance condominium, and they are open every Friday and Saturday. But, i wonder if there new location will be a smashing hit again since it's so far from ortigas center where call center agents works. Will try to visit them next week.

Surprise Birthday Party 2011

Last Sunday, i got this fun and super surprise party c/o of da.  I can't imagine the she will definitely gonna do that for me. I really got these teary eyes when i saw my surprise visitors and how special iam on my birthday. Those people that i am not expecting to be there really came to celebrate with me. Though there's only few food to share but still people came to see me and remind me how special i am and i really want to thank my partner of doing all of this. The cute part on my birthday is this cute cupcakes from Blushing Cupcakes.

Tapsi ni Vivian


There's allot of tapsihan here in the Philippines and most of it are just near in your place and maybe one of those is the tapsi of Vivian. Well, I don't personally know Vivian, i was just invited to eat here by my team mates since my colleague will pay some of our food and we will pay the excess. Hay... It's really a long way ride from home and we really need to ride a cab because this place is not located near highways. But it's ok, at least i got a chance to eat and have a taste test.. This branch is located in Project 3 Quezon City, but what i have heard is that, the most popular branch that they have is in Marikina. Ok, for those who don't know the meaning of TAPSI and BULALO. Just read this.

Papa John's Reviews

Papa Johns is a international pizza store and it was founded by John Schnatter in 1980's and now it's here in the Philippines. The good thing about Papa John's pizza is that what you can see on there menu is what you will really get.  We got a chance to eat on one of his store in megamall and we don't really care of the long ques.

As you can see once you enter there restaurant, you already have the menu on the front of you. So in case you were ask wait on the que, atleast you can provide them your order in advance and for them to serve it quickly once you're already on your seat.



Penne Arribiata Php. 142.86
Pasta Aribiata, you can choose if it's spaghetti or penne pasta. This pasta is good for 2 person only, though it's not that sour as i am expecting, but still it's a good pasta for us.

Baked BBQ Pork Ribs Php.169.64
This Baked BBQ Pork ribs is so good and it's doesn't even taste like bigby's and burgoos. The meat is so soft and it taste like it was grilled.

 9' Super Papa's Pizza Php.285
Yes, it is really a super papa's pizza because of it's topping, it's allot you can't even taste the crush because of the topping. This pizza have black olive, but we're given an option to replace it for mushroom. Yum yum....


As you can see we're given a green pepper for you pizza, if you want it to be super spicy and a butter garlic flavor for the crust, so that you can deep it. For your drinks you can choose whether bottomless or not. All in all is a two thumbs up for Papa john's Pizza and will definitely gonna go back here. Super yummy....

Mouth watering lunch at Peri -peri



Yes and we have a mouth watering lunch at Peri-peri. This resto is located at the 2nd floor of SM Megamall between racks and tokyo cafe. Peri-peri means spices or pepper. But what i have know about peri-peri is a sauce in Africa. Anyway, this is the first time i tasted a different flavor and  i cannot explain how does it taste but it is so good. Let me share to you the pictures that we got use my samsung star phone.

Here is the spicy periperi chickne that we ordered. Thou it's not too spicy but it's yummy. I really forgot the price and the name of the dished. because this picture was taken 3 months ago. The good thing about peri peri is that they server there dishes on time and it's really a value for money on buying there food.


This dishes here is a combination of periperi chicken, ceasar salad and quesedillas. So there your go. Another yummy full tummy!!!
